I believe music can help to make people whole.  I find listening to someone play gives real insights into their character.  Often addressing someone's personal issues also helps them become a better musician.  For example, lots of people lack confidence, and apologise to me unnecessarily.  They tend to communicate much less in their playing than their technical comptence would allow them to express.  I like to encourage them to loosen up and break a few rules, and then start making up their own.

I've recently started a job with Suffolk User Forum. It works on behalf of users of mental health services in Suffolk.  I also belong to the Peer Support Network which is run by Suffolk Mind.
